Lake Guntersville August 19th 2018… Timing is everything, and so is current. TVA has been turning on the generators between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. about every day and shutting them off around 1 a.m. and from then till they come back on the water backs up. So the mats that you have been froggin are not there in the mornings but after 3 p.m. its magically back . All this is playing into weather or not your just gonna catch them or your really gonna catch em,
You can visit an area 5 times in a day and not get a bite and stop just one time after the current has been moving for a little while and you can sit there and catch them for an hour straight heck every cast most of the time. Theres been mornings where we have caught em pretty good for a couple of hours and they just stop eating like someone flipped a switch.
Size? Its kinda like a box of chocolate you just don’t know what your gonna get..
So yes we are catching fish, are we catching big ones? yes and no. I like catching 5-8 pounders I know thats asking a lot this time of year so 2-4 pounds are considered big 🤷🏻♂️. Id like to see the lake level stay consistent and maybe a few days of just rain.. to flush the system out and group them up a little better..
86 degrees has been the avg temp
and some places are clearer then others
Grass is looking really good, nice and healthy
Frog bite has been steady along with a worm bite … oh when you find them eating you can throw whatever you’d like to at them, they will eat it .
Heres some pics ..
