With the fish moving with the recent moon its been tricky to keep up with them or even try to out think them on where they might be going. Had gotten one clue earlier in the week that made it all make sense. These fish are hungry to the point where you better be hanging on to your rod n reel or it just might at the bottom of the lake.
We are catching quality with a few little guys mixed in and with the recent cooler days the bite for the big girls have slowed just a little. I fished with David most of the week and ended up jumping in a little wild cat on Saturday just because he is considering on moving to the lake.
If you fished Saturday you noticed the fishing wasn’t as easy or as good as it was, or was it? We had to cover water to get a bite the 1st four stops of the morning didn’t yield a keeper and these was spots where we caught a 5+ pounders through out the week so scraping the game plan we went shallow then deep then in-between with getting a little guy here and there. It wasn’t till we pulled up to a old spot from years ago when we got in to the bigger fish we managed only four off it but they was good ones.
Taking a 1 oz weight with a Net Bait Paca Craw and flipping it in the thickest grass was where we got em , fished more with no results, now to go back to through the week we found them on top water and swimming a 4×4 jig around the grass. Did the cooler weather put them in the thicker grass? Or did the bait go there? Either way the bass moved around a lot the last 3 days and covering water was the thing to do to get a bite.
August is filling up for some flipping action and topwater so get your dates booked with me.
