How About Them Winds!
Indeed, the winds have been particularly fierce, with gusts that seem to cut right through you. The cold fronts turned out to be a tad more powerful than we had braced for. Consequently, our activities were scant last week, marked by a string of reschedules. But who could fault anyone for opting to stay indoors? When Mother Nature flexes her muscles, it often means it’s time to pause and admire her strength from the warmth and safety of our homes.
The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) has effected a dramatic reduction in lake levels this week, setting records for low water. Sightings confirm that in areas like Preston, where water once was, now only mudflats remain, particularly noticeable in the vicinity where sailboats typically anchor.
Water clarity is fluctuating between 2-3 feet, with temperatures lingering around 58-60 degrees. Unfortunately, our fishing endeavors proved to be slower than anticipated – certainly not the outcome we had in mind. However, given the situation we were faced with during our recent outings, we can only remain optimistic. With April’s arrival, we’re likely to experience fewer cold fronts, setting the stage for an uptick in fishing activity. There’s a palpable sense of excitement in the air – things are bound to heat up rather quickly.
Our captains truly excelled at their roles, expertly putting clients onto the fish. Captain Phillip distinguished himself by landing big bass honors with an impressive 6-pound catch, while Captain Scott demonstrated his prowess by achieving great numbers. Their extensive experience is an invaluable asset, especially during the challenging times faced at Lake Guntersville. Now, if only they could harness control over the wind… well, then we’d really be onto something! laughs
