Lake Guntersville Gave Up Some Big Bass Last Week. It Was A Great Feeling Landing Them Big Bass For Our Clients. On one day the best 5 went 30-04lbs in July thats just insane…. Where have these bass been?? The interesting thing about this past week was each spot gave up 5-7 bass each day and they for the most part have been dandy’s. We have been averaging 20 bass in our 4 hour trips so July has been on of the better months this year and I am not shocked just because of the way this year has been going..

Personal Best Bass Did Happen A Few Times This Past Week. Our best bite has been the 14 feet to 22 feet with the occasional shallow top water bite 1st thing in the morning has produced a big un when we can get her in the boat, best part is that the bass seem to be staying put and that helps we spend more time fishing instead of hunting them.

Water Temps 87-92 and Water Clarity has been 2-4 feet in most areas and some are more and with the great water clarity we have seen bass chasing the hooked one in. Things should continue to stay good with a chance of improvement.

Frog Time is approaching and if you’ve been waiting to hit it just right… Its looking to be a week or two out and should improve with the shortening of days and cooler nights. Get Your Trip Locked In.

Fishing In July On Guntersville Is Hot

July Is Finishing Up Strong With Big Bass After A Awesome Start With Big Numbers. The Heat Has Not Been Playing Around.. its hot and difficult to be out on the lake most days, no wind plenty of gnats. The wind is your friend right now on Lake Guntersville and thats what keeps them gnats out of your face..

Bass are not everywhere (whats new) and when you find them its a good time. Most fish are coming from the 12-25 foot range with some a little deeper. We have been averaging 20 fish mornings but we have had a slow day mixed in but the size is better on those days, its been depending on if we can fish a area because of the floating grass.

Grass is looking good and the promise of a good froggin year could be possible. So if you love to frog fish this could be your year!

Water Temps: Seen as low as 83 high as 94 just depends on the time of day and part of the lake you are in. Water Clarity is 3-6 in most parts.

We have had some great top water days already with more to come. 4×4 Jigs and Ledge Hammer has been getting the job done most days for us with Netbait C-Mac & Paca Craws.

Leary Wins BFL Super Tournament

Its Been A Great Two Weeks Here On Lake Guntersville. September has been known as one of the toughest months in the southeast to catch a fish, I can remember when I would avoid the lake during September until 4 years ago I made it my mission to figure them out, them long hot days of practicing finally paid off this past weekend during the Super Tournament.

Day 1 was a struggle and it was hard to not think about the past years during the same tournament ( the past is figuring out how to catch them during the week then Saturday they vanish ) around noon I finished my limit ( 16-09lbs ) 5th place

Day 2 Started off great had a limit in the 1st 45 mins had a limit then was able to cull up through out the day to get to 21-03lbs, kept telling myself I needed 24lbs because the leader had 20lbs on day one and I just knew he would catch the same weight again on day 2, he is just that consistent so to see that he stumbled at weigh in I can tell you that I don’t remember a whole lot after I won other then my phone started blowing up. Man the amount of texts phone calls Facebook Instagram messages …. thank each and everyone of you that took the time to congratulate me.

My Buddy Ethan Wheeler just about won the co angler side ( if he would’ve caught 5 on day one he would’ve sealed it up ) but ended up in 2nd and he won the Co Angler Of The Year .. Congratulations Dude!!!

The guide trips have been going really will and now that the heat is cooling down a little the fishing will continue to improve as we move into fall . Water temps have been 78-84 most days and the water is clearing all over the lake. Capt. Jeff has been on em really good catching numbers and some really nice ones, check out what he’s put our clients on this past week.

Summer Continues To Cook Us Here On Guntersville & The Bass Keep Biting! Sure the heat has been pretty intense at times, but all it has done is help the grass grow and the bass have made the move to it and are getting set up in it.

Water Temps 77-85 Dingy to Clear just depends on the part of the lake.

Fished the ABA Open Series Championship: Managed to get 6th place day one didn’t give up any big bites and day two did so I’ll take it. This past weekend was hot and to keep your mind in it for two days it took keeping your mind in it so you didn’t miss a bite.

The Guide Trips have been fun with catching fish on a variety of baits, with a cool down in the near future the end of September is looking to be a great time, the frog bite should be on I mean on for the next two weeks so if thats what gets your blood pumping then its time to get in the boat with us and get some explosions.

The Fall Swing

And There Goes The Summer Of 2019! How Was It In Your Eyes? The Lake is full of fish. We have a bright future for sure, you can catch fish at will pretty much every outing … but are you catching the quality that Guntersville is KNOWN for ? Are the big uns still around? I say they are, theres just so much going on out there with the types of vegetation some coming some leaving. The new stuff just isn’t as good as the old stuff (hydrilla) but one thing is for sure this summer has been a hot one so hot that it has caused a fish kill in Crow Creek, Last Sunday Pro Angler Gerald Swindle made a social media post about the dead fish and the crawdads crawling out of the water, that got everyones attention and we got answers fast.

September is ramping up along with October and November dates are starting to get booked with fall around the corner the fish are starting to show signs of a early fall ( seeing some really big ones chasing bait but not catchable) when we start seeing this its hard not to think about 5 years ago around this time we seen the same stuff happening and the fall bite we had was one of the best I can remember it went all the way in to December we just wrecked them daily and good ones at that.. fingers crossed for similar results.

Cooler nights have been happening and its been a welcoming change to the point that the hoodies have been making their way out to the lake in the mornings. The morning bite has been fickle either its gonna happen or its not but the one thing that has been consistent is the mid morning bite through early afternoon, we’ve narrowed down the baits and techqnics for now and should only get stronger.

Lake Guntersville Fun Fall Fishing

October is coming to an end and the big girls are still a little funky..But Guntersville has a bright future we have had a week of incredible numbers. And on the last trip we noticed some are growing up. It will be a matter of days and this place will be WIDE OPEN Prolly just in time for the Costa Championship. Im sure the bridges will be where its won.. Its Guntersville and they can throw the A-Rig.

So ,…. we’ve been pretty busy catching fish like stated above just not the BIG ones “yet”.. avg 30 with as many as 79 in a day, a few time we wouldn’t move the boat for at least and hour…its not something I normally be proud of but sometimes you just gotta roll with the punches.. heck it makes a fun day ( trying not to get a hook in ya) them little fellas are full of energy..

Water Temp is 69 as of Saturday

Murky water in most areas due to the wind.

Will the SPRO be any good? With the lack of mats out there this year its gonna be tough for the Froggers.. From what I can tell it’ll take a little bit of luck to win it this year..

He Guided Roger Ridenhour for the Big Bass Tournament and he took 2nd in one of the hours

Then He Guided Eric to a fish of a lifetime.. The Lake he lives by just don’t have much to brag about.. Capt. Shane has worked his tail off to put our clients on good bass.. He has more patience then I do… Hats off..

TopWater Fishing Lake Guntersville 10-5-18 Updated 10-7-18

Heres an update for Lake Guntersville :

Water temp was 77 degrees in the mornings and the Most recent is 82 at the beginning of the day,

TVA keeps fluctuating the water .. And that is hurting the frog bite. A lot of it is from the rain we just had but dang.

So what does all this mean? The bass are confused maybe.. heck you can’t catch them in the same area back to back days.. But when your run into them you make sure you knock their lights..

Had a day of days this past Monday. It was a blast..

Now these pics are from a couple of weeks , with the fishing about to pick up we will be posting weekly again.

**** UPDATE****

Seen an increase on action on Saturday. A lot of Bites just the big girls just are not comfy yet with all the ups and downs… I feel by the end of the week this place will be crazy.. First real cold front coming, TVA taking the bottom out of the lake, Grass topping out all over, Hurricane coming in from the Gulf… Should make for some awesome fishing…

Guntersville And Chickamauga Bass Fishing

September on Lake Guntersville… Is already fishing better then August, for as long as I have fished here September has always been the struggle month and this year its showing signs of being unbelievably one of the best months.. Why ??? No Clue … But we will take it..

The Bite Picked Up the Thursday before Labor Day and it stayed strong the next week, between trips and practice for the BFL it was call your shot, things was looking like 25-30lb sack wouldn’t be out of the question for the 1st day of the Super Tournament. No clue what changed in less then 12 hours, it sucked the big fish vanished in most of the areas , there was one area they was still in and feeding but pretty much impossible to catch… It was really one of them days where if it could go wrong it did and well it did .. Have you ever had braid go in between your thumb nail and skin and go in 1/4 inch? that was just one of the things, well I managed to catch two 15inch bass and I knew I just needed to weigh one to make the regional, but at the end of the day I really didn’t feel like going through weigh in .. I was truly miserable and disgusted with my lack of ability to relocate them or make them bite when it counted. Theres still a chance I could get a call to go I’m 59th in points 45 gets a invite 5 are doubled qualified so 8 guys would have to turn it down, then again I could go to the wild card and see..

So Sunday the 2nd, went to Chickamauga with Davey and Preston from Virgina, It was one of them days. We caught em good.. And it was a little windy at times.

I was lucky enough to land 3 Big Bass and 1 Decent one, and the one I lost on the cast before the pic with me holding up 3 fingers was an absolute monster of a bass, she thought she was a tarpon. Got her within 5 feet of the boat and she jumped one last time and slung the bait… but the next cast I caught another big un..

Preston caught the 1st one of the day and a few more and Davey does what Davey does . He gets in on the action catching him a good one.. It wasn’t an easy bite but once they got the feel for it they started getting them.. You might not be able to tell but they had been up for like 36 hours at one point in the day, and thats from not knowing where they wanted to fish… Left Virgina and headed south Saturday morning stopped at Chic and night fished then drove to Guntersville and got to my house at 4 a.m. then we loaded up and drove back to Chic and fished till dark.. They was Team No Sleep..

We Had A Blast.

So came back to Guntersville and to the fish that I had found on Thursday ….. yea they moved.. but we relocated some and managed to get some, but once again it wasn’t a easy bite …

As you can see they got right already this week.. Didn’t get a chance to take any pics Monday it just rained all day, I fished with Joe from Kentucky Lake and we caught plenty of fish and lost plenty too..

Sorry you had to look at the selfies but when your alone or just trying to be sneaky with out showing all the other people out there you have one you do what you gotta do.

Its starting to look like things are lining up.. Lake Guntersville is getting herself back together after a slow down a couple weeks ago.. Still a lot of moving going on as the bass are trying to figure out what they want.. But one thing is for sure the big ones are still there and mixed in with the elementary size bass.

Grass… Yes the grass is starting to develop in to mats in select areas and has given us some great action… And this heat is bad but it will make fishing the mats even better as it cooks the top layer and gets all cheesy ..
