Guntersville Isn’t Showing Any Signs Of Slowing Down.

Guntersville is fishing really well! Catching fish is pretty easy right now and getting the big bites well thats a different story… We are fishing around a lot of fish and we can catch all the 1lb to 3lb fish you want but the bigger bites are taking a little tricks to get them.. And it changes day to day but its all in the weather.. We are using 4×4 Jigs and NetBait Paca Slims Colored tips.. Heres some pics and stories ….

Went to Chicamauga for Eric’s Birthday…. We caught them just about every way you could imagine.. except with spinning gear.. that was only because we didn’t bring any..

Guntersville June 15th Big Bass

Summer Time Is Knocking On The Door… But that doesn’t mean the fishing stops. Just means you need to slow down just a little.. Water temps are creeping up to 84 by mid morning .. We’ve been busy and I guess thats why you haven’t seen much from us…. Heres some pics and some stories…

Had the honor to take a man that servers our country over seas and his son ( P.J.) … We had a great day catching Guntersville Bass ..

This guy you might recognize .. Ol Bertus I guess you can say this dude has the knack .. or its just in his blood, his uncle Charlie holds the lake record Largemouth bass .. I Believe Its 14-08lbs … So he decided to catch one half that size .. then later in the day he got into some more..

The lake has been fairly clear.. now some areas that had gotten a lot of high wind it stained it pretty good and had plenty of floating grass…

Some days we caught em steady all day and some days we caught em early and then picked one off here and there.

Been Catching Some Really BIG Ones here on Big G.

The last two weeks in the tournaments have been good to Eric and I… We got 2nd in the Masonic Lodge-324 Oneonta with 20-12 lbs and just last weekend we won the Sylvania Football Tournament with 25.66 lbs.

Its been wild and I really don’t see much changing other then then timing becoming a very important part to catching the rest of the summer..

We have been focusing on 4-6 hour trips with the heat getting up in to the 90s by 11 am so this means we are doing mornings and evening trips.. You can book your fishing trip by CLICKING HERE

Lake Guntersville Is As Fun As It Gets

Not only is the fishing awesome the weather is not all that bad. Mornings have started out rather cool and around 11 the heat starts to cook ya but if you can stand the heat then you’ll continue to catch them.. With only one slow day this past week I will have to say it was one of the best weeks for catching Lake Guntersville Bass and having a dang good time.

TVA opened the flood gates later in the week and everyone knows what that does to the bass.. yup the big ones show up, Just ask Sal Pinto he hooked a big ol bass that ended up jumping feet from the boat to show us just how big she really was.. I don’t want to be that guy but it was a double digit.. ( I mean I have seen my share of them this year ) .. I apologize now for the lack of picture taking this week, when we are laughing and saying its just a 3.5 or 4 and toss it back without snapping a pic is my fault . I guess we was wanting pics with them fat girls. And taking pics of 40+ Bass would take up some time. And thats before lunch.

With Alberto moving in to the area and bringing the rain we should benefit from the extra water movement through the dams and should keep the bass set up to be caught.. and keep the water temps down,.

Monday was one of them days Eric and I had set out to put the hurt on them .. something we haven’t gotten to do in a while besides during tournaments , before we got blown off the lake we was working on a huge bag of Guntersville Hawgs…

Speaking of tournaments we fished the 4th annual FoodLand Tournament Hosted by Chris Lane, we flat out had one of those days where we just caught them every place we pulled up .. minus one because of all the floating grass …. we weighed in 15.88 lbs with 3 bass and it got us 12th place and that has been our worst finish this year and in reality it wasn’t a bad finish 12th out of 200 boats.. 3 fish tournaments are pretty much a big fish deal it takes the skill almost out of it and makes it luck.. lucky enough to get a big bite instead of 5 quality bites … We had well over 25 pounds and would of been nice to put them on the scales oh well …

We’ve been staying relatively deep using 4×4 Bass Jigs and NetBait Plastic’s , all the fish we are catching have been located using My Lowrance HDS units either i’ve scanned before the trip and marked them or scanned while on the trip with customers, when your structure scan is dialed in you can really find the ones that have been winning in HIDE N SEEK… not going to give away any details but when we pull up to a ledge we don’t have any company..

Mike and Tommy joined me for two days this past week and remember when I said we had one slow day well it was one of their days, we had a mid morning flurry if we could of landed any of the bass it would of made the day that much better .. Tommy will tell you he had a big one on that just pulled off. These bass seemed to have a really bad temper they hit the bait so hard they jolted you then they just pulled and pulled then jump a few times .. Kinda like kamikaze bass … the their other days was full of catching … Oh and gave each other such a hard time it was like having a comedy show in between catches.. Back to the slow day no matter how slow the fishing was these two made a valid point .. Lake Guntersville is such a beautiful place and the weather was perfect. Lake Guntersville is Hott and so is the weather. Things have not changed too much we are still catching fish and good ones, its just amazing place to be.

Grass is starting to grow really nice now and that is a great thing. Raining almost daily its keeping the water temps in check and pleasure boaters too…

Fish are being caught from 10 feet out to 20 and they are hungry and mean..

Eric and I fished the Guntersville Open on Saturday and we wasn’t too sure on what we would catch, for some reason my morning bites was hit or miss all week but one thing was for sure you could set your watch to 9 am the bite turned on, sometimes you got nice 3 pound fish or you got really nice 4-5 pound fish, also they change up what they was hungry for, some might think its frustrating to keep changing lures but man its so freaking fun to just catch em so thats what our game plan is.. So we flipped a coin on what spot to start on and it was not a bad move heck it didn’t matter where we started the bass was just eating and we caught some and lost some (3) to be exact and we won’t say the size but we will say they was nice ones….. we ended with 21.56 lbs and took 6th

Fished a little week nighter Eric got off early and we gave it a shot and it was so much fun its crazy how you miss fishing with some old faces thanks for letting me fish I really enjoyed it.. we took 3rd with 12lbs it was a 3 fish limit…

We had a slow morning trip but things got so freaking hot at the end of the trip it was every cast and they got bigger…

We are getting into the hot days and I don’t mind staying out all day if you don’t … but if you are about keeping cooler while fishing we are starting the morning and afternoon fishing trips check dates HERE ..

Lake Guntersville May 13th Post Spawn Fishing

We went from 50 Degrees to 90 Degrees in 2.5 Days.. Lake temp is hitting 80 at the end of the day and starting out at 75 degrees. No current or wind and that would normally make fishing hard… One would think that. Its been a messed up spring here on Lake Guntersville but the fishing stayed strong really strong and still is..

Eric and Myself fished the Sylvania fund raiser tournament Saturday out of Goosepond and took 2nd place with 19.62 lbs we just are not getting the big bite , we are managing quality just like during my trips, customers are getting the big bites.

The bass should be done spawning but don’t hold me to it, lot of other species are moving up to do their thing .

Top water bite should happen any day now and so should the massive push to the deeps, or will they stay in the grass with the shad?? either way its going to be fun….

Lake Guntersville Bass Are Like Weather..CRAZY!!!!!

This Weather is ridiculous.. Last week was the one of the windiest weeks ever here on Lake Guntersville, Really hindered fishing, We did manage to catch some… And so far this week its been a light breeze and the lake has come up from all the recent rain… water temp is still 61 and the bass are very aggressive when you find them and they are just not where we left them last week but the size is still up there so we go where the bass are its what we do…

We fished in the Arc Of Jackson County Last weekend and got 3rd … had 20 pounds .. been a great year for sure..

Our May Calendar is filling up. I expect the offshore bite to be really good with the grass not being so thick..

April 17th Lake Guntersville Bass

Lake Guntersville Bass are trying to spawn but mother nature keeps letting old man winter show back up… It just keeps getting cold here … maybe 3 days we get to wear shorts then 4 days bundled up in our cold gear .. The water temp is struggling to get over 64 degrees .. I know we have bass that have spawned out bass spawning and still pre spawn, go back a month ago it didn’t matter if it was cold and blowing 20+mph we caught them and we caught them good… and now its like when it gets cold we catch bass but they just are not doing it like they was…

Captain D’s Cast ‘N’ Catchin Tournament was cut short by 2 hours due to the nasty weather that was bearing down on Lake Guntersville and we had our work cut out for us and a short time to get it done… by 11:30 am Eric and I was starting to wonder if we was going to have to put the ol boat on the trailer and call it a day with only 2 keepers … Eric got a bite and it was a dandy so that gave us some hope and 30mins later he hooks another dandy so we are at 4 keepers and its 12:10 pm 5 mins later I get one and its a dandy as well and just like that we have a limit and not a bad one for how the day has gone.. we weighed in 19-13lbs and it earned us 4th place out of 180 boats.. ( still waiting on pics )

Customers have been dealt some crappy conditions all week long and have made the most of it with some nice bass… When this weather gets stable mark my words this place will go bonkers again like last month.. make sure you have your May trip booked and don’t be left out of all the fun..

These two had a day.. had 3 giant bass and several nice bass for the day.. We stumbled on to a pattern that worked for that day and that day only.. the weather just keeps changing and changing the bass behavior ..

This bass was spawning still full of eggs and had blood all over her tail.. we let her go after this pic so she could get her jeans going so we have more beautiful bass like her…

Lake Guntersville fishing has remained good even with all the COLD FRONTS in April ..

Marched ended with a bang. Eric and I Took 4th In the Freedom Marine Tournament.. had 21.09lbs

Just to think last year we was all wearing shorts and catching some bass and this year we are bundled up and wrecking them..

Looking forward to the rest of April the bass are hitting beds and fishing continues to be good.

Water Temps Fell back some after high winds and cold fronts 57 degrees and the water has great visibility..

Lake Guntersville Fishing Update 3/18/18

Lake Guntersville is almost back to normal. Time will tell if this awesome fishing is because of the high current or its just nature related like the shad kill and the grass getting knocked back to where we can fish for these bass…

This past week has been just awesome. Catching big bass and lots of them. Its been FUN!!!

Water temps are now climbing back up Seen 58 today

And the water color is clear.

And the wonderful Floating grass is starting to make things difficult.

We’ve had to change up some from day to day to keep the bites coming through out the day. A few days we didn’t move the boat in 2 hours and caught over 30 bass and the other days we could pull up and catch 5 or 6 and go on to the next spot and repeat. Moving baits have been best and some slow worked on the bottom have came in handy more then a few times.

Eric and I fished Goosepond WildCat and took 3rd all I did was run the net and hold the boat on the spots and he did the catching….

Davey visited from Virgina and we got out a few days.

Daniel and his Son Joined us for 2 days of catching. On their 2nd day Daniel’s son caught his personal best, another PB for Capt. Shane

The Woods caught some on one of the coldest mornings in a awhile.

This little bass is showing why we have big ones here.. Eating Big Meals.. He just popped up to the surface in front of us so we recovered him and discovered this bream lodged in his mouth, after removal they both swam away..This is my 3rd 3lb Crappie on Guntersville.

Dale From Texas (AKA BIG TEXAS) had a trip of a lifetime, We had done something that I hadn’t done in a few years… and that was catch a mid 30 lb sack.. we did it pretty fast then we had a 25 lb sack and not sure how many 17 lb sacks we caught in that 4 hours but it happen.

Power Poles made these trips happen.. if you remember we had a lot of wind this past week and if I didn’t have them we wouldn’t of been able to sit there and catch them like we did… Thank You Power Pole.

The Big Bass Are Biting On Lake Guntersville

Lake Guntersville is really living up to her reputation, of being One Of The Number One Bass Fisheries In The World.

The numbers of bass we are catching daily is really amazing for the spring time ( February ) on a avg day 8 hours 50-70 bass and a 4 hour is 20-30 bass and then if the wind gets blowing hard your going to have a hard time fishing and we did experience that early last week. Tony will be back after his granddaughter is born here in a few days and he will get to enjoy the Madness Of March as I like to call it.

The weather cooperated the rest of the week and we dropped the hammer on them. I was joined by longtime GBG customer Adam for two of the days. We started out with him losing a really nice bass it wasn’t totally his fault it did get acrobatic after the hook set.. then the rest was a blur as we dialed in how they wanted it and the 8 hour trip tuned into daylight til dark..

A lot of the same but we was able to really catch them. Found a staging area and it was plum full of fish and big ones, we was able to sit there for 4 hours and steadily catch them while trying other lures.

Little background on Adam..

1st time he came fishing with me he was using spinning tackle and he still was able catch big ones then I told him if he was to come back frogging he would have to learn how to use a bait caster .. well he learned and two years later he has mastered the bait caster and now the lipless bait. oh yea he likes to go fast he drag races as his other hobby…

And Mike Davis… him and his friend Richie was at Lake Okeechobee and it wasn’t the best fishing and after a week of us just cracking them here on Gville I was able to convince him he needed to be here… so they came for the last 4 days of their vacation. I spent a couple of hours with them when they got here to get them dialed in… He even tried to catch us dinner..

Adam came along for the last time before he started the Police Academy as we looked for more fish for the upcoming BFL and Rat L Trap Open tournaments

And this happen … Another Lake Guntersville Giant. This is really the 4th one between Adam and I in less of a month. My 10-08 & 9-02 and Adam’s 9-15 click the weight to see the pic..Its been a very impressive 2018 .. I mean look I’ve been wearing shorts and working on the tan….

Fished the FLW BFL Saturday and took 16th with 18-14lbs not what I was expecting but ill take it..

Then Eric and I fished the Bill Lewis Rat L Trap Open and just about pulled it off… We took a different approach to the day. Never got in a hurry we actually never went over 40 mph all day and when we locked down on the spot where I caught a couple in the BFL we started grinding with a bite every 45 mins to an hour but they was decent fish had one 3 pounder we needed to get rid of and before that we had a 2 pounder that was culled out when Eric caught a 4 plus with 20 mins to go.. We ended up with 24.62lb with a 7.91 big bass that was only good enough for 3rd big bass but hey we will take it.

And now the Madness Of March is upon us and the things that happen in this special time here on Guntersville are beyond magical. Nows the time to book we are booking up and this is not a sales pitch.

Water Temps have been as high as 70 and low as 55 and there is still a slight stain to the water with some more color on its way after the rain that we have had and suppose to get more tomorrow night

Lot of new grass growing all over the lake this is a great thing its been a few years since we’ve had clean bottom with short grass sprouting..

Our best bait has been a Lipless and a solid 2nd is a Square Bill
