Fishing In July On Guntersville Is Hot

July Is Finishing Up Strong With Big Bass After A Awesome Start With Big Numbers. The Heat Has Not Been Playing Around.. its hot and difficult to be out on the lake most days, no wind plenty of gnats. The wind is your friend right now on Lake Guntersville and thats what keeps them gnats out of your face..

Bass are not everywhere (whats new) and when you find them its a good time. Most fish are coming from the 12-25 foot range with some a little deeper. We have been averaging 20 fish mornings but we have had a slow day mixed in but the size is better on those days, its been depending on if we can fish a area because of the floating grass.

Grass is looking good and the promise of a good froggin year could be possible. So if you love to frog fish this could be your year!

Water Temps: Seen as low as 83 high as 94 just depends on the time of day and part of the lake you are in. Water Clarity is 3-6 in most parts.

We have had some great top water days already with more to come. 4×4 Jigs and Ledge Hammer has been getting the job done most days for us with Netbait C-Mac & Paca Craws.

Lake Guntersville Has Been Fishing Pretty Darn Good For Being The Beginning Of July. Our clients have had some pretty memorable days on the water with us doubles and a triple or two. We’ve had a few days of 40+ bass with an average of 20. Seen some really nice ones mixed in with the rest.

The bass have been moving around again not really sure way but some mornings we can get them pretty shallow for a few hours then the other mornings we find them a little deeper.

Floating grass !!! Need I say anymore.. Man it seems like its just getting worse by the day and it seems to be everywhere you want to fish so you just have to move on till you find a clean area fish. It really is messing up our topwater areas.

Heat is on the way and it should give the fish a little bit of a break from the everyday pressure, I’ve never seen so many fishermen on the lake day in and day out. That might be why they are moving around so much 🤷🏻‍♂️.

So I have been using the new Lowrance Ghost Trolling Motor this year and been getting a lot of questions but the main one is do I like it…. And the best way I can answer that question is… I LOVE IT not only is it quite it is fast , strong, cuts through the grass , and holds us on the fish with wind & current or without either of them, quick buttons are amazing and makes guiding a little easier on the day to day basis. Fishing Lake Guntersville Has Had Its Ups & Downs But All N All We Have Been Doing Good. With majority of the fish making it to their offshore haunts timing has everything to do with a good day and a not so good day.

Water Temps have been steady for the most part high 70’s to mid 80’s the water has been clear except for after these windy days and then the lake is stained pretty good.

Our Clients have had some really good days catching these Guntersville Bass. With our morning bite being some of the best action with the shad spawn that is still happening ( some ) and the bream bed bite. Numbers and quality have been real good and with some stable weather I can only hope to see that improving. We have the 23rd,24th,& 25th open of June.

Its Ledge Time

It Was A Fun Week On Guntersville, The Bites Improved Daily With The Warmer Weather Big Bites Was What Was Going Down. The Bass Have Been Feeding Up Hard Our Bites Have Been Vicious. What Can I Say We Had Fun.

Water temps have finally gotten to the mid 70’s and its May 18th and the clarity is prefect at least 2 feet and the floating grass is still a thing.. If Mother Nature would just let the wind blow from the same direction the grass wouldn’t be an issue.

Are They “OUT”? Yes and no a few are out on the ledges but it won’t be long till there will be an onslaught of them out. Should be a good time. We do need to keep the warm weather coming for this to happen. So the ledge fishing that we have done it has been with 4×4 Ledge Hammers and your favorite big worm. So Saturday …. What happen … No clue other then the wind went from a 3 day south to a north east , the bite got tough can’t explain it wish I could but it went down hill, Sunday was a little better . And I want to share something with everyone.. If I didn’t witness this with my own eyes I don’t know how much I would of believed it. But here it goes… We started the morning and my client started catching them pretty steady with a big one and then this tournament took off and around 15 boats came by us and at that time we didn’t think too much about it … then it dawned on me we hadn’t had a bite since the boats went by… Let that sink in. Was it because he had caught all that was there? or did the bass just felt all the vibration from the boats and just shut down?

Still catching some pre-spawn bass.. feel like we will see them trickle in till mid June the spring has been long and cold with not many warm weeks that it takes to get the bass to spawn good.

Guntersville Donkey Alert!

Guntersville Is Hot. And So Is The Fishing.🎣 Its diffidently been a great week on the Big G. We’ve been able to catch them several ways and in several depths and was able to put our client on this Giant Bass .

We seen a lot of pressure this week and had to adapt by the hour, they just are really educated and after you catch a few they really got picky on what they pecked at. Then you can get on a little deal and catch them for 20 cast in a row before they act funny. But thats fishing and we do what the bass want us to do.

Water Temps 80-85 Degrees and Floating Grass Is As Bad As Ive Seen It .

Its Hot Out ( like skin melting off your bones ) so we are only offering 4 and 6 hour trips till the heat breaks a little if 8 hours is what your seeking we can put together a 4 hour morning and 4 hour afternoon to beat the heat. Remember we have ice and water on our boats to help keep everyone hydrated thats part of our service.

Plenty Of Fish On Lake Guntersville

The weather has been steadily getting hotter and the water temp on Lake Guntersville has been anywhere from 86-91 degrees…. And it hasn’t slowed the bite down but it has made the real big ones bite less often at certain times… one day it might be at day break then the next day it could be 11 o’clock ..

Saturdays have shown to be a little on the stingy side for the big ones , seems like they just know sometimes . Its frustrating when you know whats in the area and you offer them the tackle box and all you can get are average to small bass…then come back a day later and light them up .. I guess thats why its called fishing and not catching…

But My buddy Mike from Ohio was spending a lot of time just looking and fishing stuff that just does not seem to be good to me but he caught plenty of them.. and some nice ones … I gave him some baits that have been working since I wasn’t able to get out on the water with him like we usually do .. due to being booked up , we did manage to get out a couple days and caught us a few like old times… Hurry back Mike the frog bite is just around the corner…

Its been a great July and as August gets here a transition will begin, as the heat will cook ya the bass will start to set up on key areas and the grass will top out and things will start to look a lot like Frog Time…

Guntersville June 15th Big Bass

Summer Time Is Knocking On The Door… But that doesn’t mean the fishing stops. Just means you need to slow down just a little.. Water temps are creeping up to 84 by mid morning .. We’ve been busy and I guess thats why you haven’t seen much from us…. Heres some pics and some stories…

Had the honor to take a man that servers our country over seas and his son ( P.J.) … We had a great day catching Guntersville Bass ..

This guy you might recognize .. Ol Bertus I guess you can say this dude has the knack .. or its just in his blood, his uncle Charlie holds the lake record Largemouth bass .. I Believe Its 14-08lbs … So he decided to catch one half that size .. then later in the day he got into some more..

The lake has been fairly clear.. now some areas that had gotten a lot of high wind it stained it pretty good and had plenty of floating grass…

Some days we caught em steady all day and some days we caught em early and then picked one off here and there.

Ok so you might remember this next guy… He showed up back in the end of March and he caught one on his 1st cast … Well he did it once again… Congrats Dude

Been Catching Some Really BIG Ones here on Big G.

The last two weeks in the tournaments have been good to Eric and I… We got 2nd in the Masonic Lodge-324 Oneonta with 20-12 lbs and just last weekend we won the Sylvania Football Tournament with 25.66 lbs.

Its been wild and I really don’t see much changing other then then timing becoming a very important part to catching the rest of the summer..

Lake Guntersville Is As Fun As It Gets

Not only is the fishing awesome the weather is not all that bad. Mornings have started out rather cool and around 11 the heat starts to cook ya but if you can stand the heat then you’ll continue to catch them.. With only one slow day this past week I will have to say it was one of the best weeks for catching Lake Guntersville Bass and having a dang good time.

TVA opened the flood gates later in the week and everyone knows what that does to the bass.. yup the big ones show up, Just ask Sal Pinto he hooked a big ol bass that ended up jumping feet from the boat to show us just how big she really was.. I don’t want to be that guy but it was a double digit.. ( I mean I have seen my share of them this year ) .. I apologize now for the lack of picture taking this week, when we are laughing and saying its just a 3.5 or 4 and toss it back without snapping a pic is my fault . I guess we was wanting pics with them fat girls. And taking pics of 40+ Bass would take up some time. And thats before lunch.

With Alberto moving in to the area and bringing the rain we should benefit from the extra water movement through the dams and should keep the bass set up to be caught.. and keep the water temps down,.

Monday was one of them days Eric and I had set out to put the hurt on them .. something we haven’t gotten to do in a while besides during tournaments , before we got blown off the lake we was working on a huge bag of Guntersville Hawgs…

Speaking of tournaments we fished the 4th annual FoodLand Tournament Hosted by Chris Lane, we flat out had one of those days where we just caught them every place we pulled up .. minus one because of all the floating grass …. we weighed in 15.88 lbs with 3 bass and it got us 12th place and that has been our worst finish this year and in reality it wasn’t a bad finish 12th out of 200 boats.. 3 fish tournaments are pretty much a big fish deal it takes the skill almost out of it and makes it luck.. lucky enough to get a big bite instead of 5 quality bites … We had well over 25 pounds and would of been nice to put them on the scales oh well …

Still waiting on pics of our bass to pop up online so we can get them…

We’ve been staying relatively deep using 4×4 Bass Jigs and NetBait Plastic’s , all the fish we are catching have been located using My Lowrance HDS units either i’ve scanned before the trip and marked them or scanned while on the trip with customers, when your structure scan is dialed in you can really find the ones that have been winning in HIDE N SEEK… not going to give away any details but when we pull up to a ledge we don’t have any company..

Mike and Tommy joined me for two days this past week and remember when I said we had one slow day well it was one of their days, we had a mid morning flurry if we could of landed any of the bass it would of made the day that much better .. Tommy will tell you he had a big one on that just pulled off. These bass seemed to have a really bad temper they hit the bait so hard they jolted you then they just pulled and pulled then jump a few times .. Kinda like kamikaze bass … the their other days was full of catching … Oh and gave each other such a hard time it was like having a comedy show in between catches.. Back to the slow day no matter how slow the fishing was these two made a valid point .. Lake Guntersville is such a beautiful place and the weather was perfect. Lake Guntersville is Hott and so is the weather. Things have not changed too much we are still catching fish and good ones, its just amazing place to be.

Grass is starting to grow really nice now and that is a great thing. Raining almost daily its keeping the water temps in check and pleasure boaters too…

Fish are being caught from 10 feet out to 20 and they are hungry and mean..

Eric and I fished the Guntersville Open on Saturday and we wasn’t too sure on what we would catch, for some reason my morning bites was hit or miss all week but one thing was for sure you could set your watch to 9 am the bite turned on, sometimes you got nice 3 pound fish or you got really nice 4-5 pound fish, also they change up what they was hungry for, some might think its frustrating to keep changing lures but man its so freaking fun to just catch em so thats what our game plan is.. So we flipped a coin on what spot to start on and it was not a bad move heck it didn’t matter where we started the bass was just eating and we caught some and lost some (3) to be exact and we won’t say the size but we will say they was nice ones….. we ended with 21.56 lbs and took 6th

Fished a little week nighter Eric got off early and we gave it a shot and it was so much fun its crazy how you miss fishing with some old faces thanks for letting me fish I really enjoyed it.. we took 3rd with 12lbs it was a 3 fish limit…

We had a slow morning trip but things got so freaking hot at the end of the trip it was every cast and they got bigger…

We are getting into the hot days and I don’t mind staying out all day if you don’t … but if you are about keeping cooler while fishing we are starting the morning and afternoon fishing trips check dates HERE ..

Lake Guntersville May 13th Post Spawn Fishing

We went from 50 Degrees to 90 Degrees in 2.5 Days.. Lake temp is hitting 80 at the end of the day and starting out at 75 degrees. No current or wind and that would normally make fishing hard… One would think that. Its been a messed up spring here on Lake Guntersville but the fishing stayed strong really strong and still is..

Eric and Myself fished the Sylvania fund raiser tournament Saturday out of Goosepond and took 2nd place with 19.62 lbs we just are not getting the big bite , we are managing quality just like during my trips, customers are getting the big bites.

The bass should be done spawning but don’t hold me to it, lot of other species are moving up to do their thing .

Top water bite should happen any day now and so should the massive push to the deeps, or will they stay in the grass with the shad?? either way its going to be fun….
