No Place Like Guntersville

Guntersville Has Been Fishing Rather Good With The Amount Of Unstable Weather. Our Guides have kept up with the bass the past few weeks with long days that are paying off daily with some nice Lake Guntersville Bass.

The Bass have started to spawn but there are still a lot that have just started to move in so I look for the next few weeks to be wide open.

Water temps 58-61 degrees and clarity is fairly good just depends if the wind has been a factor in the area.

Capt.Mike had caught a 9lb 8oz big girl then went back the next day and caught her again. Pretty cool

Madness Of March Has Started

Guntersville Has Been Producing Some Nice Bass Even With Some Crazy Weather. Had a couple of tournaments last month one was the BFL and the other was Toyota Central.

Took 2nd in the BFL with 25-02lbs with big bass of 7-08lbs and the Toyota on day one had 22-05lbs and day two 7-15lbs (3) fish could not keep them hooked on the second day. Ended up in 29th place missed the cut by 6 ounces.

Guide Trips are happening as I type this. Clients have been catching them pretty good with only the best to come as March is just now heating up.

Water Temp is hanging around 55-58 degrees and the water is clearing up by the day from all the rain we got during the Toyota Central Tournament we had 5 inches of rain the night of the 1st day of the tournament.

We can add Poland to our list of clients from other countries

Eric and I won the Sylvania Tournament with 22lbs with big bass of 6.15lbs

2021 What A Year

We wrap up another successful year on Lake Guntersville. November brought back so many memories of several years ago when it was nothing to go out and have 20+ lbs in the 1st hour of the day and only to end the day pushing mid to high 30 lbs. With the Alabama Bass Trail 100 Series having their last tournament of the year on the 20th or November it has been the only thing I could think about for months, we was leading in the points going into the event, it was ours to lose. Steve and I had another unbelievable day together in the boat, our best 5 went 27.35 lbs. With the win we held on to the Anglers Of The Year Title.

We managed to fit in some guide trips as well, we had the privileged of taking this couple from the Netherlands fishing and Capt. Mike T. had them catching fish in no time.

Spent a couple days fishing with my good friends ( something we don’t get to do very often ) we caught them pretty good just before Adam had to leave us as his baby boy was making a early appearance.

Breakdowns you will have them if you do it long enough. Had a bearing fail on my trailer and if it wasn’t for Chris who knows how long I would’ve been out of commission. Long story short he showed up looked at it and said the Axel was shot so we made a call to the manufacture and they had one so I made the 3 and half hour round trip drive and Chris replaced the Axel at the boat ramp, we finished up at 8:30pm.

Capt. Shane and Capt. Mike have had a great year on the lake, these two really kept customers on fish throughout the year I really appreciate both of these guys on their hard work day in and day out.

Fishing has been pretty good with the warmer temps in the mid 50s and water is pretty clear

Guntersville Wants To be Good…. again

Well This Has Not Been A Great November so far. It just seems off like the lake is stuck in a hard transition and we just can’t break out of it. We normally see this type of stuff in September. Water temps are still pretty high 61-65 have been the range I like to see them lower but we have to play the cards that we are dealt.

So fish are being caught some days are better then others and if size doesn’t bother you then you can catch numbers pretty easy ( just remember size is down) now for the bigger ones they are few and far between.

Now these guys had a great trip to Guntersville! They fished hard everyday and didn’t know how to give up, and that is what it takes to put fish in the boat just a lot of casting and laughing.

Things are looking like we need a some cold weather to kick these bass into some fall feeding , yeah theres some feeding happening but its no where near what I am use to, so it is a waiting game!

Fall Time On Guntersville

October is here and the cooler nights have started and a cold front or two have shown up.

Bass Fishing has stayed consistent through out the summer months and now they are starting to transition to the fall bite. Capt. Mike & Capt. Shane Have Been A Rockstars This Entire Year, They’ve been steady day in and day out. You can request to fish with Capt. Mike, Capt Shane, & Capt. Jim.

Frogging might be pretty good this year compared to the last year or two. The mats are starting to take shape but they are just not ready..

Water temps are ranging anywhere from 75-80 degrees

Having more rain this fall then we have in the past so we have current.

1st Report 2021

Its been a little while since the last post, we just needed a little break 2020 was a year to remember some good and some bad, but here we are in 2021 healthy and cold but that should be changing as I type this I see 10 days of temps above 50 degrees. I am all for a good cold winter if it would create a good shad kill and grass ( eel ) kill like we had in 2018 but it just got to a annoying cold it did achieve much of anything but cold hands and feet. Part of the time off was for tournament prep had the ABT 100 on Lay Lake in Jan and the BFL & Toyota Series here on Guntersville in Feb. The other part was just some Belle and Me time.

The ABT 100 was a cold tournament on a body of water that Steve Or I have ever seen before so it was a learning curve. The tournament was very well ran and we had a decent finish ( 10th ) our practice was challenging and we ignored all the dock talk.. if you listen to it then you might’ve given up completely, there was guys having a great practice and for us we went 4 days with 2 bites.. things changed for us when we went against what they ( the bass ) was suppose to be doing and started to get bites in practice and with my dumb luck I hook one when I was not trying to and it was a dandy but it gave us some confidence in what we was doing and to top it off we could eliminate a lot of water that helped. On tournament day they changed like they seem to always do and after an hour of not getting bites we adjusted and started putting them in the boat I had one that I know as a good one give me the slip in my defense I could do much with it and I learned that is what them Big Coosa Spots will do so its a lesson learned. With a 10th place finish we have a good start with points.

BFL went pretty good it would’ve been a lot better if I didn’t have 2 get away and I hate to have that story but its true and it sucks I had 16-01lbs and took 17th

Toyota Series was lining up to be a memorable tournament the weather was putting them where I wanted them and I had 3 places where they ate for the 1st hour then it was over it was really like the good old days out here where the big ones are all grouped up and fighting each other to eat your lure. I really had a hard time going to bed overnight just knowing what could happen in the tournament, but I put that aside and found some back up stuff for later in the day and some fish for my co anglers. So I felt like I had a sold plan and then came the meeting and then I learned that they was delaying the take off by 1 HOUR… It was ridiculous the temp was the same at 7:30 that it was at 6:30am I went to my area and it was over I could see them just laying there being un active it was struggle from there on out I was like I can make it up tomorrow morning … then come the text for the pairings for day two they delayed take off once again and at that point I was boiling mad…. and here is what tops it off on the 3rd day the top 10 left on time 6:30am talk about a slap in the face. I can’t remember a tournament ever being like that there was not any fog or lightening just cold and on day two it was warmer.. still mind blown

Did have a trip back in Jan and it was good one my clients caught em pretty easy and we was able to fish different areas through out the day and have success.

March will be our kick off to the guiding for 2021 we have days booked up with a few openings.

Water Temps are 42ish in the morning and warming up to 46ish I believe that will change this week I expect to see mid 50s I the coming days and as for clarity the recent rains have stained up the water there is clean water in places throughout the lake and we do have high current 88k through the dam.

The fish we have been catching have been healthy, I did catch a 16 1/2 inch bass that weighed 3lbs ( weighed and measured it ) just couldn’t get over how fat it was.

Lake Guntersville 12.7.20

Lake Guntersville December 7th 2020. Bass Fishing Has Been Challenging This Entire Year, Is It A Bad Thing? Does It Make You Fish Harder? Think Harder? Well It Really Made Us Work A-lot Harder During Trips And On Scouting Days To Make Our Trips As Best As Possible. So We Hope That It Taught Us To Fish Different And Not To Forget This Year.

With it looking like it’ll be a warm winter yet again the grass may not die back and make the fish to seek new cover and get grouped up. And to have a shad kill ( with cold lake water ) wouldn’t be a bad thing… for one the fish will gorge themselves on dying shad and get good and plump for a spawn. Maybe these will happen.

So whats been happening. We have been seeing quality bass daily and some days we see numbers and quality and then some days low numbers with quality. Our Frog bite just went away this pass week with the grass breaking up just enough it was hard to get them to commit, it was fun while it lasted. Now on to winter fishing. We got a good taste of it Sunday in the Guntersville Open Adam & I ran a lot of water and the bites was random but the looks of the fish say they are getting fat and pale with good colored lateral line.. Getting Pretty as Josh Bertus would say. We had a decent bag two largemouths 4.86 & 4.81lbs and a spot 4.11lbs and 2 runts

Guntersville Fishing Is Picking UP

Here We Are At The End Of October On Lake Guntersville. To Say The Fishing Was Below Par Most Of The Month You Would Be 100% Correct. But we still had great days and we had some real grinders of days but we still caught fish.
With the weather keeping the water temps in the 70s it just hadn’t let it cool off enough to trigger them in to a heavy feeding. So that can only mean we are going to have a great November & December. Maybe the frog bite will become something as a last ditch effort for the cure of our frog addiction. fingers crossed…
Had the opportunity to fish Smith Lake in the Angling for Autism tournament with James C. got to practice one day with ol Adam and we had a day and a lot of fun, tournament day we still had fun but we had some get away from us that would’ve helped but man we had the bites but you know we can’t weigh the ones that got away. We ended up with just 9lbs so went back on Monday with Adam again and we had another unbelievable day. Here are the stats, our 1st day we had 18-08lbs ( 5lb Largemouth) our 2nd day we had 17lbs ( 5lb Spot) Adam had the big fish both times and we caught several 3 to 3-08lbs spots Then Joel and Tucker Joined me on Smith and Tucker Caught His Personal Best Spot it was just a special time to be on Smith Lake. The pics will have the Caption “Smith Lake” so check them out.
Our last couple trips this week the fishing really showed signs of a big improvement we had numbers and quality that really is exciting after the last few weeks so stay tuned for whats to come. And I was shocked when I landed that big Guntersville Smallmouth.

Guntersvilles Fall Swing

The Fall Transition Started A Little Early This Year. We noticed the fish were vacating their summer spots and making the move to early fall spots. Still no schooling action which is sad but it will be here in no time. They have been feeding good most days with good numbers and size.

Fished the BFL Super Tournament and finished in 9th place was in 7th after day 1, couldn’t get a big bite on day two it was like a different lake. Then on Monday the day after with a trip we went through the areas where I had been fishing and smashed them on the same lures.. Just Crazy how things work out in the fishing world.

Well the frog fishing… it was getting good before the hurricanes landed and brought the wind and rain and jacked it up. The cold nights we are getting will help improve the froggin.

Its been a little bit since the last update.. Sorry about that been busy and we still are, we have select days open in September and in October we have opennings among the 3 of us.

Guntersville Fishing 8.2.20

Lake Guntersville Gave Up Some Big Bass Last Week. It Was A Great Feeling Landing Them Big Bass For Our Clients. On one day the best 5 went 30-04lbs in July thats just insane…. Where have these bass been?? The interesting thing about this past week was each spot gave up 5-7 bass each day and they for the most part have been dandy’s. We have been averaging 20 bass in our 4 hour trips so July has been on of the better months this year and I am not shocked just because of the way this year has been going..

Personal Best Bass Did Happen A Few Times This Past Week. Our best bite has been the 14 feet to 22 feet with the occasional shallow top water bite 1st thing in the morning has produced a big un when we can get her in the boat, best part is that the bass seem to be staying put and that helps we spend more time fishing instead of hunting them.

Water Temps 87-92 and Water Clarity has been 2-4 feet in most areas and some are more and with the great water clarity we have seen bass chasing the hooked one in. Things should continue to stay good with a chance of improvement.

Frog Time is approaching and if you’ve been waiting to hit it just right… Its looking to be a week or two out and should improve with the shortening of days and cooler nights. Get Your Trip Locked In.
